training at Pravara Rural Education Society

Allied Studies, Sem VII

For this particular course, college offered us an opportunity to practice with other practitioners about any skill you are passionate about. For my practise, I was interested to work in understanding deeper about how large scale institutes are managed, how does administration take place, how does a system really work in handling such organisation. I was keen on knowing about what kind of work force helps in functioning of such huge establishments and how are decisions really made. My work mainly revolved around operating in Human Resource Functioning, understanding the Management and Administration aspects.

Pravara Rural Education Society is an academic organisation based in Loni of Ahmednagar district. It has 106 institutes all over the Ahmednagar district and Sinnar city in Nashik, ranging from Pre-Primary Education to Primary to Secondary to Higher Secondary. PRES also governs under it 5 diploma colleges, 21 under graduate colleges and 15 post graduate colleges. It has about 3100+ teachers teaching over 42,000+ students from various schools and colleges.

In my period of work, I got opportunity to work in the following institutes:

  1. Pravara Rural Education Society

  2. Pravara Central Public School

  3. Pravara Institutes of Agricultural Sciences

  4. College of Agriculture

Pravara Central Public School, Pravaranagar

Working:

  • worked in the admission cell for a week

  • worked with the establishment office for making a prospectus for the coming admissions

  • understood what constraints and factors need to be considered before accepting an admission

  • worked in formulating a timetable for the primary and secondary sections, independently

  • understanding what factors need to be considered before making a chart for the hosteller students

  • reviewing some books in the library as they were not suitable for pre-primary kids

  • understanding about the library maintenance

HR Department, Pravara Rural Education Society, Pravaranagar

Pravara Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Loni

-> College of Agriculture, Loni

Working:

  • guidelines for staff patterns, land requirements, intake capacity and all else related

  • worked and handled on field work of farm team and nursery team

  • getting their objectives fulfilled, taught them how to make a

report of their work

  • understood directives of Maharashtra Council of Agriculture

Research (Apex Body)

  • functioning and handling of 4 UG and 4 Diploma colleges

  • worked in office and understood the exam, establishment, student, accounts and scholarship department workings

Overall, for me it was great to know how much it takes to handle such large institutions, what all goes behind continuously to manage everything, right from accounts department to purchase department to HR department to education department to legal department to establishment department to council to governing body and much more. It is like a chain of people working in their respective zones. I also got a brief observation on what roles does a person on his/her post has to carry on, what rights they work on and how do they function.

At the same time I got to work in HR department at PRES and with various directors and principals of different schools and colleges. Working in HR dept. and establishment dept. gave me a brief understanding of several mandates that need to be taken care of. Attending the teacher recruiting interviews and being a member of scrutiny committee helped me acknowledge the factors before appointing any employee.
